Your data, in plain words
Who we are. Stoodo is run by Uppingham Inc, 330 Rue Avro, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9R 5W9, Canada. We're registering with the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Email hello@stoodo.app with any question.
What we keep.
- Your name, email, and the month and year you were born (not the day), so you can sign in and we know the app suits your age.
- Your subjects, exam boards, timetable and homework, so the app can plan with you.
- The revision sets made from the notes you send in. The notes themselves (photos, PDFs, text) we keep only until the AI has read them, usually minutes and at most two days. Your originals stay with you.
- What you've revised and when, so it can show your progress and bring back cards at the right time.
- If our safety check stops something you typed, we keep it for 90 days. If it looks like you might be at risk, a person at Stoodo may see it so we can make sure you're OK. If you've linked a parent in Stoodo and the check thinks you might hurt yourself, we let them know Stoodo showed you a support message. We never tell them what you wrote, and we tell you when we've let them know. We never tell a parent about anything to do with someone hurting you.
Things you send in. You can add homework and notes in the app, forward emails to your own Stoodo address, back up notes from Notability or GoodNotes to Stoodo, or share from an iPhone shortcut.
- Your Stoodo email address only takes email you forward from your own addresses (the one you sign in with, and any you add). Anything else is refused and not kept.
- We keep what you send only until the AI has sorted it, then keep a short preview (up to 240 characters) for 90 days so you can find it in Sent and Search.
- If something you sent could not be sorted, we keep it for 24 hours so you can tap Try again, then delete it.
- Notes backed up from Notability or GoodNotes are kept only until they become revision cards, at most two days. We keep each note's file name for 90 days after that.
- Your shortcut key and backup password are stored scrambled (we can't read them). You can make new ones or switch them off in Settings.
Notifications. If you turn them on, your phone's notification service (Apple, Google or Mozilla, depending on your device) delivers them. They show counts and subjects, never your homework titles or what you wrote.
Plans. Each month we count how many notes, homework sorts and Claude messages you've used, so we can show your allowance. We keep those counts for 13 months. Nothing can be bought yet.
What we never do.
- We never sell your data or show you adverts.
- We never track where you are.
- We never share your notes with your school, your parents or anyone else.
Who helps us run it.
- Cloudflare stores your data in Europe.
- Resend sends our emails (sign-in links and invites).
- Google lets you sign in with your Google account, if you choose to. We get your name and email from Google, nothing else.
- Anthropic's AI, Claude, reads your notes to make your revision sets. It runs in the USA or elsewhere (not only in Europe), under an agreement that protects your data. Your notes are not used to train it. Notes we send overnight in one go are kept by Anthropic for up to 29 days unless deleted; we delete them as soon as we've collected the results.
AI, not a person. The revision sets, homework help and any chat are made by AI. AI can make mistakes. If something looks wrong, tell us through Help, then Report a problem, and we'll fix it.
How long we keep it. Only as long as it's useful, and while you use the app. For example, finished plans go after six months, and old sign-in records when they expire. Delete your account and it's gone from the app straight away, and from our backups within 30 days.
Your rights. You can download all your data, or delete your account, from "Your data" on the home screen at any time. You can ask us to correct something. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we handle it.
If you're under 18. We keep your settings private by default and never nudge you to use the app more than you want to. Stoodo is for students aged 15 and over. If you tell us you're younger, we delete your sign-in straight away and keep nothing.
If you join the waitlist. We keep your email and whether you're a student, parent or teacher, only to invite you. It's deleted 30 days after we invite you, or after 12 months, whichever comes first. Email hello@stoodo.app to be taken off sooner.
Changes. If we change this notice, we'll say so in the app first.
